Playtime!

So I'm off work for a few days and thought it might be nice to have a list of both fun and productive things I would like to do during some of my free time this week.

After some careful thought and consideration, the list looks as follows...

To Do:

*Get crafty       

*Make the house look lovely and welcoming

*Pamper myself silly           

*Get in some sister time             

*Watch some Harry Potter                

*Clean out/wash Estevan (Yes, my car has a name..)

*Go to the dollar theater

*Have friend(s) over for dinner

*Get in touch with someone I haven't talked to in awhile

*Relax            

*Give Monte baby a bath

*Take Monte to Petsmart or the park

*Remind Monte that he is the cutest dog in  the world..

*Bake some super yummy delicious cookies

*Enjoy some time at the library or bookstore

*Read a book

*Write a letter back to friend in Army
*Play at the park

*Go Swimming

*Workout at least 4 times this week

*Take a bubble bath

*Hangout with ____(list of names)  

*Drink some tasty coffee

*Realize that everything on this list may not get done...

*Be ok with everything on this list not getting done

*Smile

*Be thankful for each new day

Monday - Mamba and I were shopping together and ended up being out a lot later than expected...Subway it was! :-)

Wednesday - Turkey or Veggie Burgers / Potato Salad / Bean Salad  


Thursday - Tuna Wraps / Leftover Salad


Friday - Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken / Corn on the cob / Pasta Salad / Mixed Fruit


Saturday - Italian Spinach and Tomato Pizza / Fruit


Sunday - Breakfast for dinner

Great...it's 11pm and I'm super hungry now just thinking about this weeks menu... :-p

Weekend Day Trip (woohoo! :-)

So M had the idea to go to Charlottesville for a day...two hours later we were in the car and on our way.

It was so much fun to spend the day with her and mom! :-)

Let's Be Honest (pt.I)

I'm going to be completely honest and confess something right now....Here it is.

I am an extreme perfectionist. *gasp* :-p

Yeah. It's pretty bad and paralyzing at times.

Along with this I have very "all or nothing" kind of thinking.

I say to myself.."I want to ___ (fill in the blank - re-do my bedroom, have a movie night at my house with friends, take a dance class, etc). But if I can't do it to perfection and get every single detail just right....I won't do it at all."

(how silly of me *rolls eyes*)

On top of these things, I also have moments of major low self-esteem. 

Warning: Little rabbit trail about to happen...

"..wait...aren't we supposed to be strong independent women who have life together?  Isn't it bad to show signs of weakness? What would everyone else think of me then?"

Actually, the other day I was hit with this overwhelming feeling that I needed to stop trying to have everything together and that I need to stop trying to compete with others in wanting to be the best at what I do (perfectionism)...

Basically I felt an overwhelming need to be weak because I knew then I would truly sense a real Need for my Heavenly Father.

Seriously. Life gets pretty miserable pretty fast when I step away and try to figure things out on my own..

He is the key to a life of joy.

And if that's the life I truly want, I must first realize that it's not even possible to reach that place of peace without Him.

Yes, I NEED Him to complete me.

So instead of asking myself what everyone else may think of me or how they will respond to my honesty, I should really probably take these verses to heart...

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. [10] That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  I feel like most people would look at this and think "what a bad little beggar.."



....I just look at it and think he is darn tootin' adorable...even when he is creepin' on my food!

However, we will be working on getting over this new little habit of his this week...but couldn't resist putting up this picture. :-)

Sneaky Peek

Sooo...My dear sister has recently started the adventure of opening an online store.  The picture above actually has some of the flower pins she is selling right now.  If you would like to see what other finds she has in the shop at the moment, click

Now let's get real. As much as I try to be a helpful and supportive sister, this post is not entirely just to advertise for her...(hidden motives...I'm horrid..hehe)

She is actually about to switch her shop over from winter, and will be bringing in a spring line this week. Woohoo!

Not only will she be switching over to more seasonal designs and accessories, she will also be adding some new items all together, annd...*drum roll*....introducing a new business partner...designer...charmingly witty and attractive fellow crafter. :-p

okok...let's be serious now...

But yes, you guessed it!  I'm joining my sister's little shop. I'm pretty excited and have been crafting A LOT during the last few days! I even changed my whole room around to turn it into a crafting studio. Love It and can't wait to show you the changes...but the room tour will have to wait for another day.

As for now, I just wanted to give you a sneak peek at some of the things I am looking forward to contributing to Kristin's Vintage Garden...

Dear Spring...

Dear Spring,
I just wanted to let you know how absolutely thrilled I am that the time has almost come for you to grace us with your presence again! I can't wait to go on picnics...drive in the country with all the windows down...play at the park...wear cute little dresses...etc etc.

Aaah! Beyond excited! In fact, I got so excited that I simply Had to start this blog to write down all the many adventures we get to share these next few months. Can't wait! Thank you for always being such a great friend. You always seem to know how to bring a smile to my face and fill me with such joy! I'm waiting for you...arms open wide...
